Meet Rev. Dr. Alice P. Wright

Rev. Dr. Alice Parson Wright is the youngest daughter of Mrs. Hazel S. Parson-Starkes and the late Mister Murray Parson and Herbert L. Starkes. She was born and reared in Ridgeville, SC, where she spent most of her life. In 2006 her call to pastoral ministry brought her to Andrews, SC. It was there she met and married her awesome husband, Bro. King Wright; and they are living out their happily ever after in the Trio Community of Andrews, SC. They are the proud parents of five amazing children and eight delightful grandchildren.

Rev. Wright is a product of the Dorchester County Public School System. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Claflin College, now known as Claflin University, in Orangeburg, SC. She also holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Christian Leadership from The School of the Great Commission Theological Seminary.

She exemplifies the servanthood of Matthew 20:26, as her life’s work has been in the area of public and community services. The majority of her secular career was spent working with the Department of Social Services, as well the Department of Health and Human Services. She was also employed with Berkeley-Dorchester Counties Head Start, Dorchester County School District #4, and Williamsburg County School District, respectively.

On November 11, 2006, Pastor Wright was transferred from the South Carolina Annual Conference of the Seventh Episcopal District of the AME Church to the Palmetto Annual Conference, sent to the Kingstree District, and assigned as Pastor of Greater St. John AME (Trio). There she served the congregation diligently and faithfully for eleven years, before being assigned to Canaan AME Church (Trio) in October 2017. At Canaan, Rev. Wright continued to do the work of the Lord and the Lord faithfully blessed the work of her hands.
By divine appointment, Rev. Wright was assigned as Servant Pastor at Jerusalem AME Church, “The City on the Hill” on November 11, 2022. God continues to show Himself faithful in leading and guiding His servant woman as she shepherds the flock at Jerusalem.
She holds membership with the Williamsburg NAACP Branch #5558, Trio Community Action
Organization, Williamsburg County Ministerial Alliance, and the Palmetto Annual Conference Women In Ministry, where she serves as treasurer.
